  • "My neighbors from Heck.. the win."

I have been so tempted to post here asking for advise. Instead I let myself be petty. My partner and I own as do almost everyone around us.
  • We are in Australia no HOA exists in Aus. Partner and I own (the bank owns us). 3 years ago the neighbors bought next door.

  • They start renovating while living there. They seemed nice, asked about the neighborhood, is it quiet, is it safe. They put up cameras everywhere which I don't actually mind.

  • We also have a camera. We have 2 dogs they have 2 dogs.. should be fine... right? No ladies and gentleman it was not fine. Fun fact I'm a shift worker.

  • I take sleeping tablets when on a night shift swing so no one has to be too quiet for me. My choice. The neighbor texts me (he had my number coz one of his dogs got out once and I helped look for her).

  • "YOUR dogs are barking and my wife is trying to sleep for night shift" no precursor no nothing. I was home so I call the dogs in,
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • they weren't barking. I texted back explained I was home and they weren't barking but I called them. No response. He randomly blows up my phone complaining about the dogs barking (his dogs bark for hours when I'm trying to sleep but again I take sleepers).

  • But most neighbors have dogs so could have been any of them and I work rotating rosters and my partner works a morning shift so almost always someone is home for a good part of the day.

  • We know when our dogs bark. Well we got kittens cute little ginger brother brainless wonders. He doesn't like the cat he says. Apparently they crop on his lawn?

  • Can't disprove this one except I've seen my cats crop only on dirt or their litter box... dude has golf course quality lawn in his front yard while his dogs deal with dirt mud and scrap metal in the back.

  • Sure, we go out and cat proof our back fence all the way around so the cats can go outside but can't leave the yard. Then we get bait thrown into our backyard...
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • 2 days later another bait... no way for it to get there except from his side of the fence or a bird dropping it. Possible but unlikely 2 times in 3 days.

  • We call the police, show them, they said it's likely the neighbors but no proof. So they will warn them. I am steaming by this point.

  • I have a 3 year old 2 dogs and 2 cats. Then he calls the rangers, ranger comes out I show him the cats, the fence, explain the baits and show him the texts.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • He goes and speaks to the neighbors. Silence. All I did was throw mint plant seeds over my front fence onto his prissy lawn... out of view of the cameras.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • I've done nothing else. Coz I just want to live in peace if it kept going I would have had a cease and desist drawn up.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • Friday I wake up to a for sale sign, I did nothing in reality, but I wonder why he has 8 cameras put up as soon as he moved in?
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • I wonder why he chain and padlocks his front gate whether he is home or not? I wonder what he was doing to the other neighbors and how they responded.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • Also I got home with my then 2 year old one afternoon and he was upset so crying loudly as I walked from the car passed his window to go through the back gate and he yells "for fu**s sake shut that f**king kid up."
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • He was lucky my partner was carrying the kiddo. We aren't super loud. I checked with all the neighbors on that. I checked in if the dogs were barking the few times they are left home alone, nope no problems.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • I asked if the cats were bothering them or still a problem.. no one was seeing them anymore and they loved the visits when we first let them out.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • I won't be making myself small for a neighbor but I will be respectful if I'm told there's a problem. We worked on everything as soon as we were told.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • Glad it wasn't enough and they can move out. Tdlr: j neighbors hated us as soon as they moved in, called the cops and ranger on us, tried to bait our pets / small child...
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • We stayed mostly silent documenting and fixing any issues we could. I DID get petty with mint seeds on his lawn. They put the house up for sale.
    via Ok-Stuff-4628
  • I get to live peacefully again... hopefully.
